River Trail

May 19, 2015 -      Every once in while its nice to discover something new. Something which takes you hours to explore. Curiosity,  what's behind the next bend, let see that break in the sky behind those trees, what is the view like from top of that hill, and where does the bend in the river lead?

Summer 1986 - Funny how life swings around. This trail we walked today, we are calling it the river trail, is on property where a huge farm house and barn existed.  I went into that house in 1986, with a guy I thought I liked. Now there is nothing, air, oxygen and nitrogen, mosquito's, space.
We were visiting friends, his not mine. I was the odd person out, since I went to college in another state, and my friend from this area, I became the one-who-couldn't-relate. I had nothing in common with these people.  It was late at night, after 9:00 PM,  late for me.  I just wanted to go home, but acted polite, and awkward.  I will say I  did want to look around the house like a dog, get a sense of history.

Today, nearly 25 years later, I got my chance, and with REAL friends! My true love, one of them, Willow Sunshine, along with Nancy with Oakley and little Rose.  Thanks for the great time.  Oh, we didn't get lost when the trail makers vanished. Instead we followed the river, turned around at the marsh.  Willow Sunshine ran loop de loops around us, coming obediently every time I called.  She chased, dug, swam, jumped, ran, and panted!  Little Rose was quite the trooper - bushwhacking, and Oakley in his senior years of 13, did a magnificent job keeping up.
We saw trees felled by beaver, pretty little flowers, lush green spring tree growth, and felt lots of mosquito's!  Destination River!
